Digital Mammography Display System

An improved display system for digital mammography applications brings film-like images with high resolution (2048 x 2560), high luminance, and a high contrast ratio to the medical reading room.

The Coronis 5MP display system, developed by Barco (Kortrijk, Belgium; www.barco.com), has been cleared by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) for use in digital mammography applications. “This FDA 510(k) approval for mammography also applies to units already installed in the field, provided that the recommended quality control procedures are followed. Because of this, customers who are already using a Coronis 5MP display system can now view digital mammography images on those workstations as well,” said Albert Xthona, product manager, digital mammography, Barco.

The system’s I-Guard sensor, in combination with MediCal softcopy quality assurance (QA) management software, provides digital imaging and communications in medicine (DICOM) quality over the display’s total life cycle without the need for human intervention.
